Passround makes a group card for one person's birthday or big moment. Here's what we keep and who can see it.

What we keep

  • Signers: the name, message and photo or GIF you add. No account.
  • Organisers: name, email and the card's details, including the recipient's name and, if you add them, their email or number. A birthday only if you give one, as day and month.
  • Birthday reminders: if you tick one after signing, we keep your email, the person's first name and the day and month, until you remove it. The link in each reminder email removes it.
  • Your own birthday: if you add it after signing and confirm it from our email, we keep your email and the day and month. Three weeks before it, the card's organiser gets one email a year with your first name and the date, never your email or a year. Remove it from the link in our email.
  • Christmas reminders: if you tick one after signing a Christmas card, we keep your email, the person's first name and 25 December, until you remove it. We email you once a year, on 1 December; the link in that email removes it.
  • Where the recipient lives: if you pick a city for a Christmas card so it arrives on their morning, we keep that city with the card. Only you see it.

Who can read a card

Everyone who signs, the organiser, and the person it’s for once it’s sent. Organisers can hide messages. Our team can open a card to fix problems, and each time is logged.

How long

A card stays open for at least 12 months after it’s sent. Then photos, voice notes and videos are deleted. Message text stays until you ask us to remove it.

Cookies and counts

A few small cookies, only to make the app work: your language, which cards this device started (organisers), and one that ties messages you add from the same browser to one name, for four months. No tracking cookies. We count cards started, signed and opened, never names or messages.

Who helps us

Amazon Web Services (the app, database and email) and Cloudflare (photos) host it in Europe. PostHog (EU) holds the counts.

Remove something

Email us with the card’s name and we’ll remove it within a week: smartengine@proton.me

Report something

See a message that shouldn’t be there? On the card, tap “Report something in this card” — it mails us with the card’s reference, never the message text. Or email report@passthecard.xyz. The organiser can hide a message from their dashboard.
